Beautiful, historic Atchison is located on the banks of the Missouri River in the Northeast corner of Âé¶¹´«Ã½¹ÙÍø, right off the beautiful Glacial Hills Scenic Byway. Atchison is unique for its historic charm, boutique shops, quaint restaurants, historic homes, and stately buildings.

Incorporated in 1858, Atchison is known for its vistas on the Missouri River bend and brick-lined streets.  Atchison is a community rooted in history and tradition. As the birthplace of Amelia Earhart, the world's most famous aviatrix, Atchison is a community that inspires, charms, and embraces all who call it their home or destination. Visitors often take the time to visit her birthplace museum and the new Amelia Earhart Hangar Museum.

Atchison's early history included being the home of the Kansa Indians, a visit from Lewis & Clark to celebrate the first Fourth of July west of the Mississippi, and being the founding home of the Atchison, Topeka & Santa Fe Railroad.
