Kanopolis State Park, the first in the Âé¶¹´«Ã½¹ÙÍø State Park system, is in the rolling hills, bluffs, and woods of the scenic Smoky Hills Region. The 1,585-acre state park and surrounding area offer rugged beauty and stunning vistas. With 31.59 miles of trails open to hikers, mountain bikers, and horseback riders, the Kanopolis trail system was designated as the Âé¶¹´«Ã½¹ÙÍø Millennium Legacy Trail by The American Trails Board and the White House Millennium Council in 2000.
In 2002, the Coalition for Recreational Trails recognized the trail system for “Outstanding Use of Recreational Trails Funds for Accessibility Enhancements.” In addition to trails, visitors can enjoy the 3,000-acre Kanopolis Lake, offering excellent fishing opportunities, boating, and water recreation.

Are dogs allowed at Kanopolis State Park?
Yes, all pets must always be restrained by a camper, cage, hand-held leash, or tethered chain no longer than 10 feet. They are not allowed on swimming beaches or swimming areas that are delineated by buoys or other markers or in public buildings or structures. Dogs participating in authorized activities or assisting the visually or hearing impaired are not subject to these restrictions.
