Do I need a permit to visit a Âé¶¹´«Ã½¹ÙÍø State Park?
You’ll need a Vehicle Permit for daily visits except at Mushroom Rock State Park, Prairie Spirit Trail State Park, and Flint Hills Trail State Park.
Are Âé¶¹´«Ã½¹ÙÍø state parks open for camping?
Yes! Camping is allowed in designated areas and is subject to restrictions as posted.
Do you need a camping permit in Âé¶¹´«Ã½¹ÙÍø State Parks?
A camping permit is required in addition to the motor vehicle permit for overnight stays. All daily camping permits expire at 2:00 p.m. The prime site fee applies to designated sites from April 1 - to September 30. In addition to the fees below, there is a $3.00 per stay transaction fee for all overnight stays. All campers and camping units are limited to a stay of not more than 14 consecutive days although a 14-day extension may be obtained with written permission from the park manager. A five-day absence is required before returning to the park to camp again.
What permits do I need to go to a Âé¶¹´«Ã½¹ÙÍø State Park?
Most Âé¶¹´«Ã½¹ÙÍø State Parks require that you purchase a $5 vehicle permit for daily visits except for - Mushroom Rock State Park, Prairie Spirit Trail State Park, and Flint Hills Trail State Park.
A Camping permit is required for overnight stays.

Are dogs allowed at Âé¶¹´«Ã½¹ÙÍø state parks?
Pets must always be restrained by a camper, cage, hand-held leash, or tethered chain no longer than 10 feet. They are not allowed on swimming beaches or swimming areas that are delineated by buoys or other markers or in public buildings or structures. Dogs participating in authorized activities or assisting the visually or hearing impaired are not subject to these restrictions.
How much does a State Park Pass cost?
Discounted Rate - $15.50 - whenever Âé¶¹´«Ã½¹ÙÍø residents renew their annual vehicle registration. This price is only available when you go to renew your vehicle.
Standard Rate - $25 - whenever purchased at the State Park office.
What is a Âé¶¹´«Ã½¹ÙÍø State Park Passport?
The permit – called a Âé¶¹´«Ã½¹ÙÍø State Parks Passport – costs $15.50 when renewing your vehicle and $25.00 at the KDWP office. The Passport allows you to visit any State Park in Âé¶¹´«Ã½¹ÙÍø without having to pay the $5 Daily Vehicle fee. The discounted price is only available to Âé¶¹´«Ã½¹ÙÍø residents with a vehicle registered in the State.
Is fishing allowed at Âé¶¹´«Ã½¹ÙÍø State Parks?
Yes! You can fish at most State Parks in Âé¶¹´«Ã½¹ÙÍø.
Is hunting allowed at Âé¶¹´«Ã½¹ÙÍø State Parks?
Some Âé¶¹´«Ã½¹ÙÍø State Parks allow hunting and each park has different rules on hunting. Please ask the local park manager for more information on how to properly hunt at State Parks in Âé¶¹´«Ã½¹ÙÍø.
Can I fly a drone at Âé¶¹´«Ã½¹ÙÍø State Parks?
Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS), such as drones use are only permitted within specified UAS operating areas located at some state parks. The use of drones is not permitted outside of these areas unless authorized by the KDWPT Secretary (see KAR 115-8-13). Within the operating areas, flying over people, structures, campgrounds, or beaches is prohibited.
