Baxter Springs, with a population of approximately 4,000, is located in extreme southeast Âé¶¹´«Ã½¹ÙÍø in Cherokee County. In 1926, Baxter Springs’ Military Avenue became part of Route 66. In addition to experiencing the “mother road,” Baxter Springs allows you to walk where Civil War battles were fought, visit a National Cemetery designated by President Abraham Lincoln, and experience the community’s rich mining and cow town heritage. Baxter Springs also offers many recreational opportunities with fishing on Spring River, upland game hunting, golfing, motocross, baseball, softball, soccer, hiking, and much more.
