Things to do in Frontenac, Â鶹´«Ã½¹ÙÍø

Located on the Ozark Plateau of southeast Â鶹´«Ã½¹ÙÍø is the community of Frontenac. The city is the second largest in Crawford County, right next to Pittsburg, which is the largest city in the jurisdiction.

Like many communities in the Ozark Plateau of Â鶹´«Ã½¹ÙÍø, Frontenac functioned primarily as a coal mining town. Unfortunately, the city was the site of the worst mining disaster in Â鶹´«Ã½¹ÙÍø in 1888 in which 44 miners were killed during an explosion.

Frontenac is also home to famous long-distance Olympic runner, Archie San Romani, who set the world record for the 2000-meter race in 1937.

Today, the community is along the amazing Frontier Military Historic Byway, the longest byway drive in Â鶹´«Ã½¹ÙÍø!
